Roadmap

What's cooking?

A peek at what's in progress, and what's coming soon.

Almost ready

Final stages. If we're testing in a beta or as an experimental feature, you'll see details below.

String Catalog support

Automatically create and manage your Xcode String Catalog.

More templates for all platforms

Ready-made templates covering iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV so you can start designing immediately for any platform.

UX/UI improvements

A round of interface refinements that make the whole experience feel even more buttery: smoother transitions, clearer controls, and small delights throughout.

Developing

In active development: building, testing, and iterating internally right now.

MCP server

A local Model Context Protocol server that lets AI agents and scripts drive ButterKit programmatically: generate screenshots, swap locales, and trigger exports without touching the UI.

Exploring

Early concept stage. We may not progress with all of this, or it may change along the way.

Google Play Store support

Expanding beyond the Apple ecosystem with export presets, device frames, and guidelines tailored for Google Play Store listings.

Frequently asked questions

Why no ship dates?

Deadlines sound great in theory, but they lead to cutting corners or making promises I can't keep. I'd rather our small team ship something polished a little late than push something half-baked on schedule. This page shows direction, not a countdown.

Is this the full picture?

Not quite. There are always smaller fixes, quality-of-life tweaks, and suprises happening between the bigger items here. And occasionally something will jump the queue because a user request was too good to ignore. Check the changelog for the full play-by-play.

I have an idea. Where do I send it?

Straight to my inbox: [email protected]. You can also drop it in the subreddit or our Discord. I read everything. A lot of what's on this page started as a message from someone like you.

Any chance of a Windows or web version?

No plans for it. ButterKit leans heavily on Metal for real-time 3D rendering and native macOS APIs for speed. Porting to another platform would mean rebuilding from scratch and losing the things that make it feel good. I'd rather go deep on one platform than spread thin across three.

Got something you want to see?

Feature requests, wild ideas, gentle complaints. All welcome.
