Privacy
We built ButterKit the way we want software to treat us: helpful, fast, and not nosy. From day one, the plan was simple: collect as little as possible and keep your work on your device. No need for data collection, accounts, logins etc. We prefer tools that respect boundaries. That’s why the ButterKit app runs locally, avoids personal data collection, and lets you decide when to connect to any outside service. Turn things on if they help; turn them off if they don’t. Your project stays yours.
- No account required
- We don’t sell or share personal information
- Anonymous app diagnostics are optional The ButterKit app sends anonymous usage signals to TelemetryDeck to help us squash bugs and improve features. You can switch this off anytime in Settings.
- iCloud is optional. If you choose to store documents in iCloud, your data is stored securely with Apple and covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
- OpenAI is optional. Some features can use the OpenAI API (e.g., translations or copy help). If enabled, requests are handled by OpenAI’s Privacy Policy. ButterKit works without it.
- Website analytics (privacy-first). We use Umami.is and Google Analytics for basic site metrics with ads features disabled (no Google Signals; no ads personalization). In the EEA/UK/EFTA we do not set analytics cookies unless you opt in. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC), and you can change your preference anytime in the website footer by toggling “Analytics” to Off. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
- ButterKit’s payment processors and Merchants of Record are Lemon Squeezy and Gumroad. When you purchase or activate a license, your data is handled by the Lemon Squeezy Privacy Policy and Gumroad Privacy Policy. The ButterKit app may occasionally check the installed license key to ensure it’s valid.
- When purchasing on the Mac App Store, licensing and in-app purchases are handled by Apple and RevenueCat. See Apple’s Privacy Policy and RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.
- Reddit conversion measurement (optional). We use the Reddit Pixel to measure ad performance (no retargeting, no audience sharing). In the EEA/UK/EFTA it loads only if you opt in; elsewhere you can manage it anytime via Cookie Preferences. We do not sell or share personal information. See Reddit’s Privacy Policy.
California Privacy Notice (CPRA)
We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).
We use analytics and conversion measurement only.
- Opt-out signals: We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC). If GPC is enabled in your browser, we treat it as an opt-out.
- Change your choice anytime: Cookie Preferences
If our practices change (e.g., we enable cross-context behavioral advertising/retargeting), we will update this notice and provide a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” option.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as ButterKit improves. When we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date. If anything ever requires new data from you, we’ll explain it plainly and let you choose.
