What is the refund policy?
14 days. No hoops to jump through. Just email your request to [email protected] within 14 days of purchasing Pro, or request here if purchased on the Mac App Store. Test the free version first!
Why does ButterKit offer a lifetime license when competitors only offer subscriptions?
Most screenshot tools run on cloud servers, which means ongoing infrastructure costs that get passed to you as $180+/year subscriptions. ButterKit runs entirely on your Mac: no accounts, no servers, no cloud storage required. That architecture keeps costs low and makes a sustainable one-time purchase possible. You can pay once ($99) and own a license forever. Prefer a lower upfront cost? Become a Supporter instead: the same Pro features as a monthly ($10/mo) or yearly ($39/yr) subscription that funds ongoing development. I plan to always offer a lifetime option, but price may go up over time. Compare ButterKit vs other tools
What is the Supporter plan?
Supporter is the subscription version of Pro: the same features, billed monthly ($10/mo) or yearly ($39/yr). It keeps the upfront cost low and directly funds ongoing ButterKit development. Cancel anytime.
Does ButterKit offer student or education discounts?
Yes. Very happy to extend a 50% discount to teachers, active students, military veterans and first-responders! Please send an email from your .edu or government email address to [email protected] to receive a discount code to use on the website.
Can I use one ButterKit license on multiple Macs?
Yes. Up to 5 computers per license. Easily manage or deactivate machines by clicking the “View Order” link in your email receipt after purchase.
Is there a difference between the website and Mac App Store versions?
License keys from the website only work with the website version, while the Mac App Store version manages its own purchases. Also, updates on the Mac App Store may take longer to roll out due to approval processes.
What are the system requirements?
macOS 26+ and M1 or newer Apple Silicon (Intel works too). ButterKit works completely offline, but requires internet for initial Pro license activation and any optional cloud models you choose to use.
The recipe
Made by a design engineer.
ButterKit is made from scratch for macOS. It runs privately on your machine: no accounts to make, no passwords to remember, no ads.
You can support ongoing development with an affordable subscription or buy it once if you like. It's yours.
It's built by Zach Spitulski out of his small garage in Los Angeles. He's a dad, hiker/backpacker, and design engineer who is all-in on ButterKit. One developer, self-funded, obsessively focused on helping you reach more users.
Not a source of pop-ups, ads, or password resets.
* ButterKit is a smooth way to publish apps. Do not eat.
