How do I reset my license key activations?
Quick Answer: Reset your ButterKit license activations from Lemon Squeezy’s My Orders page. Sign in with the email you used at checkout, open your ButterKit order, and deactivate the Macs you no longer use. Each freed activation can then be used on a new Mac.
A ButterKit Pro license can be active on up to 5 Macs at once. If you’ve replaced a Mac, reinstalled macOS, or reached the limit, free up an activation using the steps below.
How do I deactivate old Macs from my license?
- Go to app.lemonsqueezy.com/my-orders. You can also use the View Order link in your ButterKit purchase email.
- Enter the email address you used at checkout and open the sign-in link Lemon Squeezy sends you. Check your spam or junk folder if it doesn’t arrive.
- Select your ButterKit order and find your license key.
- Deactivate the Macs you no longer use.
- On your new Mac, activate your license in ButterKit > Settings > License.
Can I deactivate a Mac from inside ButterKit?
Yes, if you still have access to it. On that Mac, open ButterKit > Settings > License and deactivate your license. This frees the activation right away, so it’s the best option before you sell, wipe, or replace a Mac.
What else should I know about activations?
Does deactivating a Mac remove my projects?
No. Deactivating only removes Pro from that Mac. Your projects and settings stay on the Mac, and ButterKit keeps working with the free plan’s limits.
Do I need to reset activations for the Mac App Store version?
No. Mac App Store purchases are tied to your Apple Account, so there’s no license key to reset. Use Restore Purchases in ButterKit > Settings > License with the same Apple Account.
