Redesigned Capture Tool, improved MCP support, and macOS 27.2 support

What’s new

  • Redesigned Capture Tool. More intuitive, works in light and dark mode and starts from your simulator’s current settings.
  • Smarter app picker. The Capture Tool picks your app and lists only apps you installed.
  • Connect an agent in one prompt. Copy the Setup Prompt in Settings > AI Agents (MCP), then paste it into your agent.
  • AI Agents can now see your workspace via MCP. The new app_get_context tool reports open documents, the current selection, and which folders the agent can use. Agents also get workflow instructions when they connect. In my testing, I’m seeing huge improvements in design quality and speed.
  • Clearer MCP errors. Design, export, and upload tools name each problem with bad input.
  • Delete Group. Right-click a group header in the sidebar to delete its artboards and translations.
  • Larger iPhone Duo. The device now fills more of its board.
  • Full-row sidebar highlights. Hover and selection now span the whole row.

What’s fixed

  • iPhone Duo captures come out right. No more black or sideways screenshots. (GitHub Issue #1)
  • Codex connects again. Works with Codex 0.154 and later. (GitHub Issue #2)
  • MCP saves don’t stall. Saving a new document no longer opens a save dialog that blocks the agent.
  • MCP text settings show up. Text alignment and side padding set by an agent now appear on the canvas.
  • Folded iPhone Duo selection fits. The selection box matches the device.
  • Inspector holds still. It no longer stretches and snaps back when a panel or notification opens.
  • No stray dividers on macOS 27.2. Divider lines no longer show over the workspace.

This update is all about the little things that make a big difference. If you use the Capture Tool, you’ll feel the difference immediately. Thanks to all who have sent in feedback this week. Give it a spin and let me know how it’s working for you.
