Introducing Drop Shadows: more depth and realism for your devices
ButterKit 2.3 adds customizable 3D drop shadows to your devices, a more reliable MCP for AI agents, wider emoji support and more flexible uploads for App Store Connect, a show/hide button for the Inspector, and preparation for macOS 27.
What's in this release
NEW New Features
- Introducing Drop Shadows: customizable 3D drop shadows for your devices that add real depth and realism, so they sit in the scene instead of floating on top of it.
- By popular request, a new button to show and hide the Inspector panel, so you can give the canvas the whole window when you want it. (thanks Franklin)
- Publishing to App Store Connect now supports a wider range of emoji and symbols, including characters like ▲ and ▶︎. (thanks Will)
- App Store Connect uploads now work for versions in the
DEVELOPER_REJECTEDstate, which previously showed as ineligible. (thanks Andrew M!)
FIX Bug Fixes
- MCP for AI agents is more reliable. Large documents now fully load every artboard before an agent gets its answer, so counts and design sets are 100% accurate. Also fixes several MCP bugs and improves background MCP performance.
- Under the hood: preparation for macOS 27 and an improved localization engine.

A quick note to say thank you. A good chunk of this release started as a message from someone using ButterKit on a real project: the Inspector toggle, the emoji fix, the App Store Connect change. Will, Franklin, Andrew, and everyone who has written in, posted on the subreddit or Discord, or filed a bug: thank you. It genuinely shapes what gets built next, and I hope you can feel it in 2.3.
